French side FC Metz are set to secure the services of Ghanaian centre-back Terry Yegbe after reaching an agreement with Swedish outfit IF Elfsborg for a deal valued at €3 million, plus a further €1 million in add-ons, as per Foot Mercato.

The 24-year-old, towering at 1.95m, is expected to complete his medical imminently before putting pen to paper. Metz, currently anchored to the bottom of Ligue 1, view Yegbe as a cornerstone signing in their attempt to shore up a leaking backline and revive their season.

Yegbe’s journey has been meteoric. Barely a year after leaving Finland’s SJK Seinajoki for Elfsborg, he emerged as one of the Swedish Allsvenskan’s most reliable defenders. His height and strength make him a formidable force in the air, while his reading of the game and calm distribution have added a modern edge to his profile.

The Ghana international, capped once by the Black Stars, also gained continental experience last term, featuring in Elfsborg’s European clashes against high-profile opposition such as Tottenham Hotspur, Athletic Bilbao, and OGC Nice. This season, he has already racked up 18 league appearances, chipping in with a goal and an assist.

For Metz, Yegbe’s arrival is more than just a signing; it is a statement of intent. For the player, it represents both a step into one of Europe’s elite competitions and a chance to strengthen his case for regular national team involvement.
