Ghanaian centre-back Maxwell Woledzi has been honoured as Fredrikstad’s Player of the Year for 2025, a fitting reward after a season in which he firmly established himself as one of Norway’s top defenders.

The 24-year-old was ever-present for the club, featuring in 37 matches across all competitions and delivering a level of consistency that won widespread admiration. His commanding performances were pivotal to Fredrikstad’s resurgence, highlighted by their historic triumph in the Norway Cup, the club’s first in nearly two decades.

Woledzi’s influence extended beyond individual brilliance; his leadership and composure at the heart of defence were central to Fredrikstad’s impressive run, earning him a deserved spot in the Eliteserien Team of the Year.

Since joining the Norwegian outfit in 2023 from Vitoria Guimarães, having previously developed at FC Nordsjaelland, Woledzi has grown into a cornerstone of the team. His aerial dominance, intelligent positioning, and calm reading of the game have made him indispensable.

With his market value now estimated at €2.2 million, the defender’s rise has not gone unnoticed. MLS side Nashville SC are reported to have submitted a formal bid, and Fredrikstad are expected to evaluate the offer as interest in the Ghanaian continues to intensify.
