IK Sirius have secured the services of Dutch-born Ghanaian talent Matthias Nartey, landing the 20-year-old midfielder on a five-year deal from Dutch second-tier outfit SC Cambuur.
The agreement, which ties Nartey to the Uppsala club until 2030, marks the latest step in the youngster’s steady rise after honing his craft in the Eerste Divisie. His departure from Cambuur had been confirmed earlier this month, paving the way for his Scandinavian switch.
For Nartey, who remains eligible to represent Ghana internationally, the transfer is as much about fit as it is about ambition.
“I like the way of working here at Sirius. They know my playing style very well, so there was no doubt when they got in touch with their interest,” he explained in his unveiling. “I am a strong player who can run a lot, a box-to-box player who is good with the ball.”

With nine Allsvenskan fixtures still on the calendar, Sirius are hopeful the energetic midfielder can make an immediate mark while also being a central piece of their long-term project.
Head coach Jonathan Ederström believes the club have landed a rare blend of athleticism and skill.
“Matthias is a player with both physical strength and technical ability. He can operate in a box-to-box role or as an advanced playmaker. While he is mainly recruited with 2026 in mind, we believe he will contribute this autumn as well,” the coach noted.
The capture of Nartey underscores Sirius’ intent to continue building around young, versatile players as they push for a stronger finish to the season and a brighter future.
