Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has showered praise on in-form Ghanaian striker Brandon Thomas-Asante after another dazzling display in front of goal helped the Sky Blues tighten their grip at the top of the Championship table.
Thomas-Asante stole the spotlight once again on Tuesday night, bagging a brace in Coventry’s convincing win over Portsmouth, a result that extended their lead at the summit to four points and underlined their promotion credentials.

Lampard, clearly impressed by the forward’s energy and adaptability, could not hide his admiration after the game.
“All credit to him because he works so hard,” the former Chelsea and England star said. “You move him around and nothing changes, he’s effective in the 10, on the sides, up front, his pressing is great. You can see his talent. He needs to keep going with that.”

The 25-year-old attacker has been in electrifying form this season, racking up eight goals and three assists in just 11 league appearances. His consistency and hunger have made him one of the standout performers in the division.
Thomas-Asante’s early-season exploits have also earned him a unique place in Championship history, becoming the first Ghanaian player since Patrick Agyemang in 2017 to score seven or more goals within the opening 11 matches of a campaign.
With confidence flowing and goals coming thick and fast, the dynamic frontman will now turn his attention to Coventry’s weekend clash against Watford at the Coventry Building Society Arena, where he’ll aim to extend his remarkable scoring streak.
