Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo is relishing life in Spain’s top tier, admitting the unforgiving nature of La Liga has tested him while fuelling his hunger for even greater heights.
The 26-year-old, who played a pivotal role in Real Oviedo’s promotion push last season, has quickly established himself as a key figure in their survival bid. Yet, despite the grind of week-to-week football against some of Europe’s elite, Sibo insists he is thriving.
“It’s tough in La Liga, but I like it there because they treat me like a king,” he revealed in an interview with Graphic Sports, underlining both the challenges and the comforts of his new reality.
For Sibo, however, the journey doesn’t stop with simply holding his own in Spain. The Ghana international’s gaze is firmly set on a bigger stage.

“We’re working hard to stay up, but one of my biggest ambitions is to play in the UEFA Champions League,” he declared, offering a glimpse into the ambition that drives him.
That belief, he insists, is what keeps him pushing forward. “Everything happens for a reason, and I believe I have the power to change situations,” he added, a statement that echoes the confidence behind his steady rise.
Sibo’s growth has not gone unnoticed back home, either. He earned his Black Stars debut in June, lining up alongside Arsenal’s Thomas Partey in Ghana’s narrow 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Mali, a performance that confirmed his readiness for international football.
As Oviedo fight to cement their La Liga status, Sibo continues to balance the reality of Spain’s unforgiving league with his vision of future glory. From the Spanish second division to international recognition within a year, his trajectory suggests that the Champions League may not be as distant as it seems.
