Ghanaian youngster Joseph Opoku has expressed strong confidence that S.V. Zulte Waregem will secure their place in the Belgian Pro League by the end of the 2025/26 season.
The former Great Corinthians FC winger believes the team possesses enough quality and determination to steer clear of the drop zone despite having just five matches remaining in the campaign.
Currently playing their home games at the Elindus Arena, the Belgian side has faced a challenging season but Opoku insists the squad remains confident about finishing the campaign safely above the relegation places.
Speaking in an interview with Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen, the Ghana U-20 national team forward maintained that the team will not be dragged into the relegation playoffs:
“Believe me, we definitely won’t be playing in those Relegation Play-offs. We have a strong team, and everyone is convinced that we have enough to show for those remaining five matches to secure a safe spot in the final standings.”

Opoku also shared his thoughts ahead of their upcoming league fixture against R.S.C. Anderlecht, stressing that his immediate focus remains on helping his club:
“It’s not in my hands, though. I’m fully focused on Essevee, and if the national coach decides I’m eligible for selection, I’ll of course be ready.”
The 20-year-old has been an important contributor for Zulte Waregem this season, registering five goals and three assists in 23 appearances across all competitions.
At present, Zulte Waregem sit 12th on the league table with 29 points as they push to secure safety before the campaign concludes.
Although Opoku has not yet featured for the Ghana national football team, he has represented the country four times at youth level with the Ghana U20 side and continues to work toward earning his senior international debut.
