Ghana captain Jordan Ayew is set to take his time before deciding on the next chapter of his club career, with the veteran attacker keen on extending his stay in European football following his exit from Leicester City.

Footy-Africa reports that the 34-year-old, who is now available on a free transfer after Leicester’s drop from the Premier League, has already drawn attention from several clubs across England and France ahead of the upcoming season.

Despite the growing interest, Ayew is in no hurry to commit to a new team. Sources close to the player indicate that his immediate focus is firmly on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he is expected to lead Ghana as captain.

The experienced forward, who has spent his entire professional career in Europe, views the tournament as an important opportunity and believes a strong showing on football’s biggest stage could open the door to another high-level move.

Speaking ahead of Ghana’s final World Cup warm-up match against Wales in Cardiff, Ayew made it clear that discussions about his future can wait until after the tournament.

“When the time comes, I’ll make the decision with my family and representatives on my future club,” Ayew told reporters ahead of Ghana’s friendly against Wales in Cardiff. “There’s no rush. I just want to enjoy myself at the World Cup.”

Ayew remains a central figure in Carlos Queiroz’s plans as the Black Stars prepare for their campaign in North America. His leadership and vast experience are expected to play a significant role in Ghana’s ambitions at the competition.

Over the course of his career, the former Marseille forward has represented several clubs across France and England, including Lorient, Swansea City, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and most recently Leicester City.

For now, however, club matters have been placed on hold as Ayew concentrates on helping Ghana navigate a challenging Group L assignment. The Black Stars begin their World Cup journey against Panama on June 17 before taking on England and Croatia in their remaining group fixtures.
