Lommel SK have tied down rising Ghanaian defender Henry Oware to a fresh long-term contract, underlining their faith in the youngster’s development.

The 21-year-old initially arrived in Belgium in the winter of 2024, switching from French outfit ESTAC Troyes, who had snapped him up a year earlier from Ghanaian side WAFA SC. His initial deal with Lommel was nearing its conclusion, but the club has now moved swiftly to secure his services until 2028, with an additional one-year option included.

Oware, who has steadily worked his way into the first team, expressed his delight at the extension.

“I feel very much at home at this club and am therefore very happy to be able to extend my contract,” said Oware. “In the past year and a half, I’ve already had the opportunity to learn and play a lot here. I’m looking forward to getting more playing time and developing with the team!”

Lommel’s Sporting Director, Jeffrey van As, praised the defender’s growth and potential, stressing why the club had no hesitation in extending his stay:

“Henry is a talented central defender who has fought his way into the starting lineup this season. Despite his young age, he has already gained a wealth of experience at our club. We want to continue developing him in the coming years and look forward to his future at Lommel SK with great confidence and positivity.”

The extension signals both player and club’s shared ambition: Oware’s hunger for development and Lommel’s vision of building around youthful talent.
