Helsingborgs IF are weighing up a potential winter-window sale of Samuel Asoma after confirming they have received a formal approach from Finland for the Ghana-eligible midfielder.
Head coach Stevie Grieve disclosed that negotiations are now active, with the club prepared to listen to offers as they look to secure a healthy return on the 23-year-old’s transfer value ahead of the new season.
Asoma, a product of Club Brugge’s youth system, moved to Helsingborgs IF in 2024 from Västerås SK on a long-term contract. Since arriving in southern Sweden, he has grown into a reliable presence in midfield, featuring regularly across the 2024/25 campaign.

The Scottish tactician confirmed that a Finnish suitor has lodged a concrete proposal and hinted that more than one club is circling, prompting Helsingborgs to temporarily step the player away from team activities while he weighs his options.
“We have received an offer from a team in Finland,” Grieve said of the bid for the Ghana-prospect midfielder to his club’s official website.
He continued:
“We are at a stage where he has to make a decision, if he wants to accept the offer. I felt that the best thing was to take him off training today and the game tomorrow, so that he can focus on his decision. There are a couple of teams that are interested and there is a concrete proposal.”
Helsingborgs are understood to be open to doing business if their valuation is met, with the club keen to capitalise on Asoma’s rising stock rather than risk losing leverage later in the year. The midfielder logged 28 appearances for Helsingborgs across the 2024/25 season, underlining his importance to the side.
Born in Berekum before relocating to Belgium at a young age, Asoma remains eligible to pledge his international future to Ghana despite previous involvement with Belgian youth national teams. With interest firming up and a formal offer already on the table, a decision on his immediate future is expected in the coming days.
