Hearts of Oak have moved quickly to distance the club from the ugly scenes that followed their 1–0 defeat to rivals Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s Super Clash, issuing a strong statement denouncing the attack on match officials.
The Phobians tasted their first loss of the campaign after Morifing Donzo slotted home a contentious first-half penalty. Hearts thought they had found an equaliser after the break through Mawuli Wayo, only for the assistant referee’s flag to cut short the celebrations.
That offside call sparked frustration across the team, with winger Hussein Mohammed visibly losing his cool and confronting the referee after the final whistle.

In the aftermath, Hearts released a public apology, expressing regret over the behaviour that tainted the end of the match and reaffirming the club’s commitment to sportsmanship.
“Following the conclusion of the match, we acknowledge with deep regret the unfortunate scenes that unfolded after the final whistle. The moments do not uphold the values we uphold as a club, values rooted in discipline, respect and the spirit of fair play,” the statement read.
Hearts coach Didi Dramani insists Super Clash defeat was harsh
“We unreservedly apologise to the Ghana Football Association, the match officials, our fans and the general public. We recognise the importance of maintaining the game’s integrity and are taking immediate steps to reinforce that commitment. As part of our internal response, we have initiated a disciplinary process concerning the player involved,” noted in the statement.
The Ghana FA’s Disciplinary Committee has already charged Hussein, giving him a brief window to appeal. The player has also issued a personal apology for his outburst.
