The Ghana Football Association is laying down a clear blueprint for the future of the Black Stars, with a strong emphasis on assembling a highly competitive and resilient squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
GFA Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has underscored the association’s long-term vision, highlighting the need to cultivate depth and quality across the team. His remarks come as head coach Otto Addo unveiled a 26-man squad for upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany later this month.

Notably, the squad features four fresh faces, Derrick Luckassen, Marvin Senaya, Daniel Agyei, and Patrick Pfeiffer, signaling a deliberate move to inject new energy and expand the team’s options.
Addressing the inclusion of these new players during an interview with Asempa FM, Asante Twum maintained that competition remains central to the team’s evolution.
“We want to build a strong team. We want to get to a point where we are without our senior players, and we will be able to play comfortably. We have spoken to several players, and we are glad to have them, but they will have to compete for a place on the team.”

“We want to create a competitive environment, and we want every player to bring competition to the team, and those who are around must also improve themselves, because it will also help to create a competitive side,” he added.
The Black Stars are scheduled to face Austria in Vienna on March 27 before making the trip to Germany for their second friendly encounter on March 30, 2026. These fixtures are expected to provide a valuable platform for both established stars and newcomers to stake their claim as Ghana continues its build-up to football’s biggest global showpiece.
