From Liga II to the big stage: Carl Davordzie seals Sepsi OSK switch

Ghanaian striker Carl Davordzie has taken a major step forward in his European journey after completing a move to Romanian top-flight outfit Sepsi OSK, who have brought him in as part of their aggressive rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 25-year-old forward has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the red and white club, marking a significant upgrade in his career following a prolific spell in Romania’s second tier.

Davordzie makes the jump to Sepsi after an eye-catching campaign with CSM Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț, where he emerged as one of the league’s standout attackers in the first half of the season. His return of 10 goals not only fired Ceahlăul’s push up the table but also put him firmly on the radar of several top-flight sides, with Sepsi ultimately winning the race for his signature.

Although he represents Ghana, Davordzie’s footballing roots were laid in Italy. Born and raised there, he came through the youth ranks of Parma, where he was schooled in the tactical and technical demands of Italian football. He later gained senior experience with Virtus Camposanto before venturing into Romania in search of regular football and a clearer pathway to the top.

Since arriving in the country, Davordzie has steadily built a strong reputation, turning out for clubs such as Gloria Bistrița (Besztercei Gloria) and CFR Cluj II before exploding into form with Ceahlăul. That journey through the Romanian system has given him a rare blend of physical resilience and tactical awareness, traits that Sepsi believe will translate well to the demands of Liga I.

At Sepsi, Davordzie is expected to provide both competition and a new dimension in attack. The club see his strength, movement and finishing ability as key ingredients in their plans to freshen up the squad and mount a more consistent challenge in the upcoming campaign.

With a bigger stage now in front of him, attention will firmly be on the Ghanaian as he looks to carry his scoring touch into Romania’s top division and make an immediate impact in Sepsi colours.
