Ghana international and midfielder Amankwah Forson has set his sights firmly on representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the tournament as the ultimate stage for any footballer.
The 22-year-old, who joined English Championship side Norwich City last summer from Austrian giants RB Salzburg, says pulling on the national shirt at football’s biggest showpiece has been a lifelong dream, and one he’s determined to make reality.
“Definitely, I’m dreaming of going to the World Cup,” he was quoted by Flashscore in an interview. “If you’re a footballer, especially a young one, playing at the World Cup says a lot. I want to be part of that squad, so I’ll do everything to make it happen.”
Forson’s debut season (2024/25) at Carrow Road was not without its challenges, with injuries and adaptation issues testing his resilience. Yet he still delivered key moments, most memorably, a dramatic late brace against Coventry City that sealed a comeback win.

Reflecting on his move to England, the former WAFA star called it a dream come true but admitted the physical demands of the league were a step up from Austria.
“It was a great feeling to play in England. A lot of football players want to play in England. It was a great feeling,” he said. “I would say the league is tough. Really physical and more intense. In Austria, it was also intense, but the physicality is different. It’s my first year, so I will get used to it,” the midfielder added.
Meanwhile, while he’s eager to represent Ghana at the global stage, Forson has only played twice in the Black Stars shirt with both games coming in March last year.
