Tariq Lamptey is set for a fresh start in Italy after Fiorentina struck an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to bring the Ghanaian full-back to Florence, according to Caught Offside.
The 23-year-old will complete his transfer for a reported fee of around £6 million, including performance-related add-ons, with his arrival in Italy expected over the weekend to finalize personal terms and undergo medicals.
Lamptey, who came through Chelsea’s academy before joining Brighton in 2020, has endured a frustrating spell on the south coast due to persistent injuries, limiting him to just 15 appearances last season. Despite his setbacks, he still showcased flashes of his attacking prowess, registering two goals and several assists in his limited outings.
The electric right-back has found himself out of Brighton’s plans at the start of this campaign, having been left out of all three opening Matchday squads against Fulham, Everton, and Oxford United. Fiorentina have identified him as a valuable squad option to rotate with Brazilian defender Dodô as they prepare for a demanding season in Serie A and European competition.
Lamptey has racked up 104 appearances and three goals for Brighton since his switch from Chelsea and has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic wide defenders when fit.
The London-born star, who represents Ghana at international level, is also part of the Black Stars squad for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali next month.
