Manchester City have completed the signing of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, with the Ghanaian winger putting pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal at the Etihad Stadium.

The 26-year-old arrives in a high-profile January transfer worth around £62.5–£65 million, beating off interest from other Premier League clubs to bolster Pep Guardiola’s attacking options.

City’s new No. 42, taking the shirt previously worn by legendary midfielder Yaya Touré, joins a squad still competing on multiple fronts, including the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Champions League.

Speaking to Manchester City media after the deal was sealed, Pep Guardiola did not hide his admiration for his new forward:

“Everybody knows his qualities, he was playing extraordinarily at Bournemouth in the last few years and can play both sides. He uses both feet unbelievably. He can play as a striker too with his pace. He knows the Premier League; many clubs wanted him but he decided to join us. All I can say is thank you to him and we’re pleased for the next years.”

Guardiola’s praise highlights Semenyo’s versatility, comfortable on either wing or through the centre, and his well-rounded technical ability, especially his two-footedness and explosive speed.

From Bournemouth standout to City stage

Semenyo’s rise has been noteworthy. After impressing at Bournemouth, where he netted 10 Premier League goals this season, he attracted attention from some of England’s top clubs before ultimately choosing the challenge of Manchester City.

On completing his move, the forward said joining City was a “real privilege” and a chance to improve under one of the world’s most respected managers, a sentiment Guardiola has clearly welcomed.

Manchester City FC City fans will now look forward to seeing how Semenyo’s pace, directness and goal threat can add a new dimension to Guardiola’s already potent attack in the crucial second half of the campaign.
