Former Ghana youth international Emmanuel Toku has taken a decisive step in his career, sealing a move to Thai giants Buriram United ahead of the 2025/26 season.

At 25, the versatile attacking midfielder arrives in Thailand as a free agent after parting ways with Belgian Pro League side OH Leuven, where limited game time curtailed his momentum. The switch offers Toku a fresh platform to reignite his career with one of Southeast Asia’s most dominant clubs.

Buriram United, 11-time Thai League 1 champions, are renowned for their relentless domestic ambition and continental aspirations. Toku’s arrival is viewed as a strategic addition as the club sets its sights firmly on reclaiming the league crown and pushing for a historic 12th top-flight title.

A product of Ghana’s grassroots football system, Toku developed his game at lower-tier side Cheetah FC before embarking on a European journey that saw him feature across multiple leagues. His résumé includes stints with Denmark’s Aalborg BK, AEL Limassol in Cyprus, Bulgaria’s Botev Plovdiv, and most recently OH Leuven—an experience that has shaped him into a tactically astute and battle-hardened midfielder.

On the international stage, Toku has long been regarded as a standout talent of his generation. He represented Ghana at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India and later rose to prominence as captain of the national U-20 side during the 2019 African Games in Rabat, Morocco, an achievement that underscored his leadership qualities and maturity beyond his years.

With his blend of European exposure, technical ability, and international pedigree, Emmanuel Toku is expected to add creativity and experience to Buriram United’s attacking setup as the Thai powerhouse prepares for another title charge.
