Ghanaian international defender Alexander Djiku is reported to be preparing for a big move in his carresr, as Russian giants Spartak Moscow are making a final push to land the player before the summer transfer window deadline, according to Footy-Africa.
The Russian team under head coach Dejan Stanković is desperately seeking to improve their defensive ranks with the services of 31-year-old back, who has one year left on his contract with Fenerbahçe.
A source close to the player confirmed to Footy-Africa that talks with Spartak are progressing positively for a permanent deal.
“Spartak see Djiku as a leader and want him to anchor their defence. The club is willing to meet Fenerbahçe’s valuation, and discussions have been very constructive”, the source explained.
Although, it is reported that Besiktas remain very interested, but they know the competition is stiff. The transfer deadline set for Thursday, as Djiku is highly likely to move elsewhere from Fenerbahçe.
Djiku, who has impressed since joining Fenerbahçe in 2023, is valued at around €6.5 million by Transfermarkt. Last season, Djiku made 38 appearances across all domestic and international competitions.
