Ghana international Derrick Köhn has expressed pride in 1. FC Union Berlin after the club ended the 2025/26 Bundesliga season on a positive note despite enduring a turbulent campaign.
The left-back was one of the key figures for the Berlin-based side throughout the season, making 29 league appearances and contributing a goal as Union Berlin secured an 11th-place finish.
The club faced a challenging spell during the second half of the campaign, a run of poor performances that ultimately led to the departure of head coach Steffen Baumgart. His replacement, Marie-Louise Eta, made history by becoming the first female manager to take charge of a team in the Bundesliga.
Under Eta’s leadership, Union Berlin managed to steady the ship and closed the season strongly with consecutive victories over 1. FSV Mainz 05 and FC Augsburg to secure a respectable finish in the standings.
Following the conclusion of the campaign, Köhn took to social media to reflect on the team’s journey and thank supporters for standing by them during difficult moments.
“End of the season. Not every moment was easy, but every moment helped us to grow. Proud of the journey, proud of the people around us, and thankful for all the support this season. More to come,” posted the Ghana left-back.
