Black Stars goalkeepers’ coach Fatau Dauda says Ghana must brace for a difficult challenge in their next 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures, but insists the team has what it takes to secure maximum points.
The national team will return to action in September for the crucial Matchday 7 and 8 encounters. Otto Addo’s men will first travel to N’Djamena to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on September 4, before welcoming Mali to the Accra Sports Stadium four days later.
Ghana come into these matches on the back of two straight wins in March, and Dauda believes that momentum must be carried forward.
“In March, we played two games, and we won, and Ghanaian showed up in their numbers to support the team, but for now, that game is past, and we have games coming up, and if we want to win, we need to score and work hard,” Dauda told GHOne TV.
He stressed the importance of preparation and resilience, acknowledging that the road ahead will not be smooth.
“We will do our very best to win the games, but I also know it will not be easy, and so we need to work hard. I know the opponents will be analysing us, and we will also be analysing them. At this level, it is tough, but we need to win these two games if we want to go to the World Cup, which will not be easy, but I know we can do it,” he added.
Meanwhile, head coach Otto Addo is expected to roll out his squad list within the week. Ghana currently sit top of Group I with 15 points from six matches, firmly in control of their qualification campaign.
