Former Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has offered glowing praise for Mohammed Kudus’ high-profile switch to Tottenham Hotspur, branding the summer transfer as a smart piece of business and an ideal fit for both player and club.

Kudus, 25, completed a £55 million move from West Ham United to Spurs during the summer window, a transfer that sparked major conversation across England and Ghana. Though his early months in North London have yielded just one goal across 17 appearances, Hughton believes the Ghanaian has already demonstrated why Tottenham were keen to secure his signature.

Speaking to Flashscore, Hughton highlighted both the strategic and footballing wisdom behind the acquisition.

“I think it was an excellent signing,” Hughton said. “The deal for Kudus made a lot of sense, especially from a financial perspective. Tottenham needed a player of his profile. It’s a big stadium, a big stage in England, and he’s started his Tottenham career very well. He fits seamlessly into a system that favours crosses into the box.”

Kudus recently made his comeback from injury during the heated North London derby against Arsenal, and is now in line to feature again as Spurs prepare to face Fulham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
