Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, says the Porcupine Warriors are brimming with belief as they prepare to open their CAF Confederation Cup journey against Nigeria’s Kwara United.
The Ghanaian FA Cup holders will kick-start their continental adventure on Sunday, September 21, when they welcome the Nigerian outfit to the Accra Sports Stadium. The first-leg encounter is scheduled for a 15:00 GMT kick-off.
Duku, speaking to Asempa FM in Accra, stressed that head coach Karim Zito’s men are in the right frame of mind after weeks of preparation and a run of recent successes.
“Under Karim Zito, this current team has won four trophies, and there is more to come from the players,” he said.
The Kotoko official added that Zito’s technical work has instilled both discipline and ambition in the squad.
“Karim Zito says the team is yet to reach its peak. The players are motivated to win this game because they have studied videos of previous African matches and understand the challenge ahead.”
Duku further rallied the club’s fan base, reminding them of the wider significance of Kotoko’s continental campaign.
“This is Asante Kotoko, and if they perform, it benefits the country. I am asking Ghanaians to show up in their numbers to support the team. I am confident we will make Ghanaians proud.”
Kotoko will look to establish a strong advantage at home before heading to Nigeria for the decisive second leg against Kwara United at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium in Abuja on Sunday, September 28.
