Former Ghana international Albert Adomah has called on the Black Stars to approach the 2026 FIFA World Cup with humility and sharp focus, warning that no opponent should be taken lightly.
Ghana, a four-time African champion, is preparing for its fifth appearance on football’s biggest stage after being placed in a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama. While the group presents a stern test, Adomah believes the team’s mindset will be just as important as their talent.
In an interview with 3Sports, the ex-Aston Villa winger acknowledged the scale of the task but emphasized the need for belief and composure rather than fear. He stressed that success in such tournaments often hinges on how seriously teams treat every opponent.

Adomah cautioned against any sense of overconfidence, highlighting the unpredictable nature of international football, where perceived weaker sides frequently rise to the occasion.
“As players, the team you think you should beat easily is often the one that produces its best performance against you,” he said.
“That is why Ghana must be very cautious and respect every opponent,” Adomah added.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23. Their final group fixture will come against Croatia on June 27.

As part of their build-up, Ghana is set to play a friendly against Mexico later this month, followed by a final preparatory match against Wales on June 2, as they fine-tune their squad ahead of the global tournament.
