Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah endured a night to forget as his Al-Nasr side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Al-Wasl in the UAE Pro League on Saturday evening.
The experienced playmaker, who started the match at the Zabeel Stadium, was dismissed before half-time after receiving a straight red card, leaving his teammates to battle with ten men for the remainder of the game.
Al-Wasl took full advantage of the numerical superiority, breaking the deadlock in the 26th minute through Brazilian defender Adryelson. The hosts doubled their lead moments later when Ali Saleh struck to make it 2-0, tightening their grip on the encounter.

Despite the setback, Al-Nasr fought back after the interval and managed to reduce the deficit in the 53rd minute courtesy of Abdoulaye Toure. However, the visitors’ spirited efforts weren’t enough to snatch a point, as Al-Wasl held firm to secure victory on home turf.
Mensah’s red card capped off a frustrating outing for the former Atlético Madrid and Kayserispor midfielder, who joined Al-Nasr during the summer transfer window on a two-year contract.
Since his arrival, the 31-year-old Ghanaian has featured four times in the UAE top flight, but is yet to register a goal or an assist for the Dubai-based club.
