Ghanaian striker Benjamin Tetteh stole the spotlight on Friday evening, hitting a decisive brace to steer NK Maribor to a dramatic 3–2 triumph over Aluminij in the Slovenian PrvaLiga.

The clash, staged on September 19, proved to be an end-to-end battle, with Maribor relying on Tetteh’s clinical touch to rise to second place on the table after nine rounds.

It was Gregor Sikošek who set the tone for the home side, finding the net in the 26th minute. Tetteh quickly followed up, coolly slotting home ten minutes later to put Maribor firmly in control before the break.

Aluminij briefly rekindled hope after the restart when Saitoski converted from the spot, but Tetteh was not done. The 28-year-old Ghanaian responded instantly in the 53rd minute, restoring a two-goal cushion with a sharp finish that highlighted his growing importance to the Purple Warriors.

Do cilja po nekoliko težji poti, toda namen je dosežen. Za prijeten vikend in dodaten zagon v novem tednu, ko nas čakata dve gostovanji.

Even as Bloudek pulled one back for the visitors in the 62nd minute, Maribor showed resilience, shutting down further threats to secure their fifth league victory of the campaign.

Tetteh’s double takes his season tally to an impressive seven goals in nine appearances, complemented by three assists, underscoring his blistering form since the campaign kicked off.

The result propels Maribor to 17 points, leaving them five adrift of leaders Celje as they intensify their bid to reclaim dominance in Slovenian football.
