Asante Kotoko once again showed grit and character as they clawed back from an early setback to earn a 1-1 draw against table-toppers Aduana FC in a fiercely contested Ghana Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors, buoyed by their recent unbeaten run, which includes a win over Hearts of Oak and a draw against Vision FC, were made to pay for an early lapse. Aduana’s Emmanuel Marfo capitalized on chaos in Kotoko’s box, reacting quickest after goalkeeper Aziz Dari failed to handle a speculative strike from Seidu Saana. Marfo needed no second invitation, burying the chance in just the 6th minute to silence the home crowd.
Aduana grew in confidence after the opener, with Seidu Saana and Hensen Amponsa tormenting Kotoko’s backline and forcing them into urgent defensive reads. For a moment, the league leaders seemed on course to stretch their advantage.
But Kotoko’s revival began with a bold tactical shift from coach Karim Zito, who introduced the lively Baba Yahaya midway through the half. His impact was immediate and electric, twisting, turning, and unsettling the Aduana defence.

The breakthrough followed soon after. Yahaya’s trickery cracked open space, and Lord Amoah stepped up with a thunderous strike in the 43rd minute, restoring parity and igniting the Baba Yara Stadium.
The second half belonged largely to Kotoko, who dictated the tempo and piled on the pressure in search of a winner.
But despite their dominance and sustained attacking waves, the finishing touch remained elusive. Aduana held their ground, leaving the game to end with spoils shared, a result both thrilling and tactically intriguing.
Kotoko now turn their attention to an outstanding fixture against Young Apostles FC before making the trip to face FC Samartex in Samreboi. Aduana, still perched at the summit, prepare to welcome Berekum Chelsea in what promises to be another key contest in match-week 11.
