Ghanaian midfielder Richmond Lamptey has called time on his brief spell with Rwandan powerhouse APR FC, sealing a one-year switch to Libyan topflight side Al Ittihad Misurata SC in a deal valued at around US$50,000, according to the official statement.
Lamptey, once touted as a midfield dynamo during his Asante Kotoko days and a member of Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad, endured a difficult chapter in Kigali. Signed in June 2024 for a reported US$150,000 on a two-year contract, the 27-year-old failed to justify the hype, featuring in just eight league matches last season without registering a goal or assist.

APR confirmed his departure with a brief message of gratitude, stating:
“Thank you, Lamptey Richmond. We appreciate your time, effort, and commitment to APR FC. Best of luck on your next journey.”
His move comes as APR wrap up their Kagame Cup campaign in Dar es Salaam, with Lamptey currently travelling back to Kigali to complete formalities before linking up with his new club.
The transfer marks a fresh chapter for the midfielder, whose once-promising trajectory now seeks revival in Libya’s top flight after a frustrating Rwandan adventure.
