Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Addai came off the bench to deliver a moment of magic for Qarabag FK, netting the decisive strike in their UEFA Champions League Group Stage encounter against FC Copenhagen on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old entered the contest with just 20 minutes left on the clock and wasted little time making his mark. In the 83rd minute, Addai latched onto a clever pass from Nariman Ahmad Akhundzade, muscled his way past his marker, and unleashed a precise finish that left the Danish side stunned.

Earlier in the game, Abdella Zoubir had put the Azerbaijani champions ahead with a first-half opener, before Copenhagen threatened a comeback. But it was Addai’s late intervention that ensured Qarabag protected their lead and walked away with maximum points in front of their home supporters in Baku.

The goal was a significant personal milestone for Addai, marking his maiden strike in the Champions League proper. He had previously featured in eight fixtures in the competition, six of them during the qualifying rounds, without finding the net.

With this result, Qarabag continue their perfect start to the campaign, having already dispatched Portuguese giants SL Benfica in their opener. Back-to-back victories have propelled them up the Group Stage standings, underlining their intent to be more than just underdogs in this season’s competition.
