Kwasi Sibo is edging toward the exit at Real Oviedo after growing disillusioned with his fading influence at the club, sources indicate. The Ghanaian midfielder has formally expressed his desire to leave when the transfer window opens, convinced that a change of scenery is essential to revive his career.

Once a central figure in Oviedo’s engine room, Sibo has found himself sidelined during a turbulent La Liga campaign that has left the club hovering just above the relegation zone in 19th place. As results have faltered, so too has his standing in the squad, with opportunities becoming increasingly scarce.

Interest in the 27-year-old is already building. Several clubs are monitoring his situation closely, encouraged by both his availability and his proven pedigree at the top level.

Real Oviedo move to secure Kwasi Sibo’s future as contract dispute intensifies

Sibo’s decline in prominence began amid managerial upheaval. The dismissal of Veljko Paunović following a disappointing run of form marked a turning point, and his prospects failed to improve under new head coach Luis Carrión. Since Carrión’s appointment in October 2025, the midfielder has struggled to feature regularly, suggesting he no longer fits into the club’s evolving plans.

The situation is particularly jarring given Sibo’s international status. A dependable presence for Ghana’s Black Stars, he has become accustomed to responsibility and rhythm, qualities he believes are impossible to maintain from the fringes of a club squad.

His season so far tells a stark story: just seven appearances and 323 minutes of action, a dramatic fall from the previous campaign. Last season, Sibo was ever-present, playing 38 matches and playing a key role as Oviedo clinched promotion to La Liga.

Now, with momentum stalled and frustration mounting, Sibo appears ready to turn the page. For a player who thrives on consistency and trust, a move away from Oviedo is increasingly viewed not as an option, but as a necessity.
