Hamburger SV forward Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer continued his fine run of form, finding the net once again as the German side triumphed 6–3 over Dutch club FC Groningen in a pulsating friendly on Wednesday.
The Ghanaian attacker, who recently scored his first Bundesliga goal of the season, showcased his sharp instincts in front of goal despite sitting out Ghana’s Kirin Cup campaign in Asia. Staying behind in Hamburg, the 24-year-old made the most of the break to sharpen his rhythm in a match that turned into a feast of goals.

Hamburg wasted no time asserting control. Emir Sahiti opened the scoring after reacting quickest to a rebound from Imanuel Pherai’s shot, before Pherai himself doubled the lead moments later. The home crowd were then treated to more flair as Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira capped off a dominant first half with a composed finish to make it 3–0.
Groningen came out fighting after the interval, with David van der Werff pulling one back to spark hopes of a comeback. Those hopes were short-lived, however, as Sahiti bagged his brace to restore Hamburg’s cushion. Van der Werff again responded for the visitors, cutting the deficit to 4–2 in an increasingly open contest.
Then came Konigsdorffer’s moment. Introduced midway through the second half, the Ghanaian attacker made an immediate impact, latching onto a through ball to slot home Hamburg’s fifth. His joy was momentarily muted when Mark Hoekstra struck a superb goal for Groningen, but Guilherme Ramos had the final say, sealing a 6–3 win in what proved to be a thrilling display of attacking football.
