Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice President George Afriyie believes the Black Stars’ technical team will be highly motivated to settle old scores when they lock horns with the Comoros in the closing fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The decisive clash is set for Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium, where Ghana will aim to cement their qualification with a statement performance in front of home fans.

Afriyie recalled the painful memories of Ghana’s recent setbacks against the island nation, the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations defeat in Cameroon and another loss in Moroni during Matchday 2 of the ongoing qualifiers, insisting that this encounter offers the perfect chance for redemption.
“I am 100% sure that the technical team will go for revenge against the Comoros,” he told Asempa FM.
He went on to applaud the team’s steady improvement under the current setup, noting clear signs of progress in recent matches.
“I have seen improvement in the Black Stars,” he added.

The Black Stars currently top Group I with 22 points, and a win on Sunday would not only seal their World Cup ticket but also avenge the painful defeats that have lingered in Ghanaian football memory.
Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
