Ghanaian defender Patrick Kpozo has officially brought his time with Czech top-flight side FC Banik Ostrava to an end after both parties agreed to mutually terminate his contract ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The experienced left-back leaves the club after spending three years across the Czech football system, during which he became a familiar figure in Ostrava’s backline and featured in both domestic and European competitions.
The decision comes after Kpozo requested to part ways with the club, with Banik Ostrava confirming the development in an official statement released on their website.
A statement confirming the mutual termination of the Ghana international read via the club’s official website:
“Patrick Kpozo is leaving Baník after three years. The 28-year-old Ghanaian left-back has agreed to terminate his contract with the club.”
The former Ghana international played a total of 56 league matches for Baník, scoring three goals and providing six assists, and made another ten starts in European cups in the preliminary rounds of the Europa League and the Conference League. However, his workload has decreased this season, and he made his last start in November at Slavia. Therefore, both parties agreed to terminate the contract six months before the end of the contract.

Kpozo’s departure closes an important chapter in a career that has seen him build extensive experience across several European leagues. Before arriving in the Czech Republic, the former Inter Allies FC defender had spells with clubs including AIK Fotboll, Tromsø IL, Östersunds FK and FC Sheriff Tiraspol.
Despite seeing reduced playing time during the recently concluded season, the 28-year-old exits Banik Ostrava with respectable numbers, having contributed three goals and six assists in 56 league appearances while also gaining valuable experience in UEFA qualifying competitions.
With his background in Scandinavian and Eastern European football, Kpozo is expected to attract interest from clubs seeking an experienced full-back during the summer transfer window.
At international level, the defender has earned two senior caps for the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.
