Eddie Nketiah has pushed back against renewed claims that he’s in fresh discussions with the Ghana Football Association, saying no new approach has been made despite growing noise around his international future.

The Crystal Palace striker, who left Arsenal in 2024 after scoring 38 goals in 168 appearances before completing a £30 million switch, is still eligible to represent Ghana under FIFA’s nationality rules. The GFA has long kept him on their radar, alongside other foreign-born talents like Chelsea youngster Joshua Acheampong, as they continue strengthening the Black Stars’ depth ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Eddie Nketiah finally speaks out as Ghana links intensify

With the tournament drawing closer, head coach Otto Addo recently hinted that some players who once rebuffed Ghana’s advances are now reconsidering. But Nketiah maintains nothing new has landed on his phone.

“I haven’t had any calls or anything recently,” he said. “My focus has been on playing well each week and helping my team win trophies. If I’m doing well and doing the right things, then naturally the international future will resolve itself when it’s time to make that decision,” he told BBC Sport

He stressed that the present, not the what-ifs, is guiding him right now:

“At the moment I’m just enjoying my football with Crystal Palace, that’s my main focus. I’m Ghanaian and there’s no denying that. I’m proud of my roots. The future will take care of itself… what will be will be.”

Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Nketiah hasn’t closed the door, but he’s in no hurry to walk through it either.
