Luton Town left it late but found their hero in Gideon Kodua, whose composed finish ensured the Hatters escaped with a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers in a fiery League One contest at Kenilworth Road.

The English-born Ghanaian forward began the afternoon among the substitutes, only entering the fray in the 64th minute for Jacob Brown. His arrival injected urgency and intent into a Luton side that had spent much of the match chasing the game.

Bolton had stunned the home crowd early, striking in the 8th minute when Kyle Dempsey drilled a precise effort into the bottom corner. Luton responded with effort rather than accuracy, dominating spells of possession but failing to find the decisive ball before the interval.

The dynamic of the clash shifted dramatically in the 70th minute as Bolton were reduced to ten men, Xavier Simons receiving his marching orders after a second bookable offence. With numerical advantage secured, Luton surged forward relentlessly.

Their breakthrough finally arrived in the 83rd minute. Millenic Alli slipped a clever pass into the box, and Kodua, alert, composed, and unmarked, guided a left-footed strike into the heart of the net, sending the Kenilworth Road faithful into full celebration.

Despite a frantic final push from both teams, neither could carve out a winner, and the spoils were ultimately shared.

Luton now turn their attention to their upcoming EFL Trophy clash with Exeter City, boosted by Kodua’s timely reminder of his attacking influence.
