New Black Stars goalkeeping coach Daniel Gaspar has cautioned that Ghana cannot afford to underestimate any opponent at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting every team at the tournament will pose a serious challenge.
The experienced trainer, who recently joined Ghana’s revamped technical bench, stressed that success at the global showpiece will depend more on the Black Stars’ level of preparation than on worrying about individual stars from opposing teams.
Speaking to Kooora, Gaspar explained that modern football demands collective tactical discipline and warned against focusing too heavily on one player.
“In the World Cup, there are no easy opponents. The most dangerous players are those who combine intelligence, movement, composure, and lethal effectiveness. But my focus is always on our preparations rather than fearing any particular player,” Gaspar said.

Gaspar is part of the newly assembled Ghana technical team led by Carlos Queiroz, who was appointed to replace Otto Addo ahead of the tournament in North America.
The Portuguese-American coach is expected to play a key role in strengthening Ghana’s defensive organisation and goalkeeping department as the Black Stars prepare for their World Cup campaign.
Expectations among supporters remain cautious following recent inconsistent performances, but attention will firmly be on Queiroz and his backroom staff to guide Ghana into a respectable run on football’s biggest stage.
At the tournament, Ghana has been drawn in a difficult group alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
