Turkish outfit Amedspor have stepped up efforts to complete the permanent signing of Ghanaian attacker Felix Afena-Gyan after the forward played a pivotal role in the club’s rise to the Turkish Süper Lig, Footy-Africa understands.

The newly promoted side are eager to keep the 23-year-old beyond his loan stay following an eye-catching season that saw him emerge as one of the team’s most influential players during their successful promotion charge.

Sources close to the player reveal that Amedspor’s hierarchy are already locked in negotiations to secure a full transfer from Italian club US Cremonese, with discussions centred around a fee believed to be in the region of €1.5 million.

Afena-Gyan adapted quickly to life in Turkey and became a crucial figure in the squad, registering five goals and six assists across the campaign as Amedspor sealed a landmark return to top-flight football.

The former AS Roma forward joined the club on a temporary deal from Cremonese last summer, with the Turkish side initially holding an option to buy at the end of the season.

Yet the transfer situation has taken an unexpected twist after Cremonese suffered relegation from Serie A. The Italian side are still undecided over triggering an extension clause in the striker’s current contract, which is set to run out on June 30.

Despite the uncertainty, Afena-Gyan is believed to be comfortable in Turkey and open to prolonging his stay after finally rediscovering consistent minutes and confidence on the pitch.

Amedspor are now racing against time to conclude the agreement before June 10, aware that growing interest from clubs in both France and Germany could threaten their chances of landing the Ghana international permanently.

Cremonese, who invested close to €6 million to sign the striker, are understood to prefer a transfer sale rather than risk losing him for nothing once his contract expires.

Afena-Gyan’s resurgence during the 2025/26 season has revived his reputation across Europe, with several clubs monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

The attacker also recently attracted attention off the field after disclosing that his home in Italy had been broken into while he was away representing Ghana national football team on international duty, though his immediate priority remains settling his club future before the new season begins.
