Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante has expressed his determination to justify the confidence shown in him by Coventry City manager Frank Lampard after an outstanding season that ended with the club earning promotion to the Premier League.
The striker was one of Coventry’s standout performers during their successful Championship campaign, making an important contribution as the Sky Blues secured a long-awaited return to England’s top division.
Lampard consistently backed the 26-year-old throughout the season, regularly highlighting his work ethic and influence on the team. Thomas-Asante says that unwavering belief has motivated him to raise his standards and continue developing his game.
The forward’s impressive club form also earned him a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the Black Stars bowed out in the Round of 32 following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia.

Despite Ghana’s early exit, Thomas-Asante said the encouragement from his Coventry teammates remained constant throughout the tournament, with many reaching out before matches to offer their support.
“Yeah, they’ve been in touch,” Thomas-Asante told ESPN. “When the games are coming, there’ll be a little flurry of messages, which I’m very grateful for.”
“It’s been such a successful year, and a lot of my teammates at club level are part of the reason why I’ve been able to come and play in this team and this squad. I called one of my friends from the pitch after the last game just to let him be there as well, but there’ll be nothing better than to bring home some extra silverware for them,” he added.
Thomas-Asante returned from international duty with renewed confidence after registering an assist in Ghana’s group-stage victory over Panama, and he is expected to be an important figure as Lampard prepares Coventry for life in the Premier League.
Coventry’s top-flight campaign begins with a daunting opening-day fixture away to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, where Thomas-Asante will be eager to continue the form that has made him one of Lampard’s trusted attacking options.
