Ghana’s Black Stars players will each pocket a $100,000 appearance fee for representing the nation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams.

The minister disclosed the approved package during an interview on TV3, providing clarity on the financial rewards awaiting the squad as preparations for the global showpiece gather momentum.

“The appearance fee for the Black Stars players has been pegged at $100,000 per player,” he stated.

The confirmation comes at a time when government is awaiting the release of a GH¢150 million World Cup allocation from the Ministry of Finance, funds expected to facilitate Ghana’s participation in the tournament scheduled to take place across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars remain in Cardiff, Wales, where they are fine-tuning their preparations ahead of the competition. The team is set to face Wales in an international friendly on June 2, a fixture expected to offer the technical team a final assessment before naming the official 26-man squad.

With anticipation building across the country, Adams urged Ghanaians to rally behind the national team as they prepare for another appearance on football’s biggest stage.

“All I want is the spirit of the nation behind the team,” he said.

The 2026 tournament will mark Ghana’s fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup. Drawn in Group L, the Black Stars face a challenging route to the knockout rounds alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field before taking on England six days later at Gillette Stadium. Their group-stage journey will conclude with a meeting against Croatia on June 27.
