Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has opened up on the growing influence of Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, praising the veteran tactician for the positive atmosphere and tactical direction he has brought to the national team camp ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars are currently holding a training camp in Cardiff as preparations intensify for next month’s global tournament in North America. Ghana will test their readiness with an international friendly against Wales on June 2 before finalising plans for the competition.
Queiroz, who recently took over from Otto Addo on a short-term deal, has already started implementing his ideas with the squad since camp opened earlier this week.
Speaking to Ghana FA Media, the Coventry City attacker spoke passionately about representing the four-time African champions and fulfilling a childhood dream by earning a place in the national setup:
“I’m happy to be here, and we definitely want to prepare in the right way to go and be successful. It’s always the biggest privilege (to play for Ghana). It’s something that since I was young I believed that I was going to achieve it one day and now to be here is incredible.”

Thomas-Asante also reserved special praise for Queiroz, insisting the players have quickly embraced the Portuguese manager’s philosophy and leadership style.
“He [Carlos Queiroz] is a very good guy. All of us are listening to how he wants us to play and understanding his ideas. It’s been a blessing,” he added.
The 26-year-old forward is widely expected to secure a place in Ghana’s final 26-man World Cup squad after earning selection in the provisional 28-man roster.
Thomas-Asante heads into the tournament on the back of an impressive season with Coventry City, where he contributed 13 goals and four assists in 34 appearances to help the Sky Blues challenge for promotion to the Premier League.
Ghana will make their fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup and have been placed in a challenging Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.

The Black Stars begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field before taking on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23. Their final group-stage fixture will come against Croatia on June 27.
