Albert Amoah has candidly revisited one of the most turbulent chapters of his career, admitting that walking away from Asante Kotoko earlier this season left deep emotional scars.
The prolific striker parted ways with the Porcupine Warriors after their bruising CAF Confederation Cup elimination at the hands of Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club, a tie that ended in a humbling second preliminary round defeat. In the aftermath of that setback, Amoah sealed a move to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, bringing a sudden halt to his initial stint at Kotoko.
Now back in Kumasi on a season-long loan, the 25-year-old has spoken openly about the mental weight of that departure, describing it as a period marked by frustration and silence.
“It was difficult leaving, especially because of how it ended in Morocco. I didn’t even know how to respond to messages,” Amoah told the club’s media team.

His return, however, has been met with renewed belief from the Kotoko faithful, a gesture that has reignited his motivation as he looks to write a different ending this time around.
“Knowing that so many fans are counting on me has given me a huge boost, and I hope to repay their faith,” Amoah added.
With Matchday 20 on the horizon, Amoah is poised to make his return to competitive action when Kotoko host Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium, a fixture that could mark the beginning of his redemption arc in red.
