Ghanaian teenage sensation Jerry Afriyie once again announced his growing stature on the Belgian top-flight stage, inspiring RAAL La Louvière to a jaw-dropping 3–2 comeback win away to title-chasing Club Brugge KV on Friday night.
In an encounter that appeared to be slipping beyond reach by halftime, the 19-year-old striker emerged as the catalyst for a dramatic turnaround at the Jan Breydelstadion, injecting belief, urgency and momentum into the visitors’ survival bid.
Club Brugge, sitting second on the league table, looked every bit the favourite early on. Romeo Vermant opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, before Hugo Vetlesen compounded La Louvière’s misery with a swift second just six minutes later. At 2–0 down against one of Belgium’s most dominant sides, the newly promoted Wolves faced a daunting uphill battle.

That narrative began to shift shortly after the hour mark, and Afriyie was at the heart of it. Timing his movement perfectly, the young forward calmly slotted home in the 61st minute, halving the deficit and swinging the emotional tide of the contest. His strike not only rattled the hosts but also reignited belief within the La Louvière ranks, transforming a fading cause into a live contest.
Afriyie’s all-action display, marked by intelligent pressing, sharp movement and composure in key moments, earned him a commendable 7.0 rating and underlined his growing importance to the team’s attacking structure.
The match then exploded into chaos deep into stoppage time. With seconds ticking away, Sami Lahssaini struck a dramatic equaliser, silencing the home crowd and setting the stage for an unforgettable finale.
Barely moments later, Senegalese forward Papa Moussa Fall completed the unthinkable, firing in the winner to cap a stunning turnaround and hand La Louvière a memorable league double over Club Brugge this season.
Afriyie’s goal marked his third since arriving on loan from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Qadsiah, further highlighting his rapid adaptation and rising influence in the Jupiler Pro League.

The emphatic victory propels RAAL La Louvière up to 13th place after 21 matches, breathing new life into their relegation fight. With confidence surging and Jerry Afriyie continuing to deliver in pivotal moments, the Wolves now have renewed belief that survival is not just a hope, but a realistic target.
