Italian Serie C outfit US Salernitana are edging closer to completing a loan move for Ghanaian-eligible midfielder Emmanuel Gyabuaa from Serie A side Atalanta in the ongoing winter transfer window.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder, born in Parma to Ghanaian parents, is expected to join the Stadio Arechi-based club on a short-term deal that will run until the end of the 2025/26 season. The move is part of Atalanta’s plan to ensure regular playing time for the midfielder as he continues his development.
Gyabuaa began the current campaign on loan at Serie B side US Avellino but found opportunities limited, managing just five appearances across all competitions before his spell was cut short midway through the season. With Salernitana now operating in Serie C following relegation, the club has identified the midfielder as a key addition to bolster their engine room for the second half of the campaign.
Reports from Tuttosalernitana indicate that negotiations between Salernitana and Atalanta are at an advanced stage, with an agreement already in place for the temporary transfer. Only final procedural steps are believed to remain before the deal is made official.
A former Parma FC prospect, Gyabuaa has previously represented Italy at youth international level. However, due to his Ghanaian heritage, he remains eligible to switch allegiance and potentially feature for the Black Stars at senior level in the future.
If completed, the move to Salernitana could provide the combative midfielder with a platform to regain momentum, secure consistent minutes, and reassert his value ahead of the new season.
