Asante Kotoko have moved to bolster their attacking options for the present and the future after finalizing the capture of highly-rated youngster Dogo Yakubu from MidCity Football Academy.
The 21-year-old forward has committed his future to the Kumasi giants by signing a three-and-a-half-year contract, marking a major step up in his rapidly developing career. Known for his electric pace, sharp off-the-ball runs and natural eye for goal, Dogo arrives with a growing reputation as one of the most exciting young attackers to emerge from the local academy system.

For the player himself, the move represents both a challenge and a chance to announce himself on a much bigger stage.
“I’m still young, and I believe I have a huge chance here to make a name for myself,” he told AKSC media.
“Joining Kotoko is a big opportunity for my career, and I’m grateful for the trust the club has shown in me. I’m ready to work hard, learn every day, and take my chances when they come. I want to improve, score goals, and help the team succeed.”
Kotoko’s technical team view the signing as a strategic investment rather than a short-term fix. Head coach Karim Zito stressed that Dogo’s arrival fits squarely into the club’s broader vision of building a squad around youthful, ambitious talent.
“This signing is part of our plan for the future. Dogo is young, hungry, and has the qualities we look for in a modern striker. We believe in giving young players the right platform to develop, and this is the right environment for him to grow, gain confidence, and become an important player for the club over time,” said Zito.

With the Reds pushing hard across multiple competitions, Dogo may not have to wait long to pull on the famous red shirt. He is in line to make his first appearance for the FA Cup holders when Kotoko host GoldStars on Sunday, January 18, a fixture that could offer fans their first glimpse of the club’s newest attacking prospect in action.
