Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku delivered a moment of pure drama at the King Power Stadium, firing Leicester City back to winning ways with a breathtaking stoppage-time volley against West Bromwich Albion in the English Championship.

With the contest drifting toward a frustrating draw, the 21-year-old rose to the occasion in the dying seconds, meeting a teasing delivery from Stephy Mavididi with a thunderous finish that left the home crowd in raptures. The late strike sealed a vital 2–1 victory and underlined Fatawu’s growing importance in Leicester’s promotion push.

Earlier in the afternoon, fellow Ghanaian Jordan Ayew had given the Foxes a dream start, breaking the deadlock early in the first half at the King Power. West Brom, however, responded before the interval through Karlan Grant, restoring parity and setting up a tense second half that looked destined to end all square.

Reflecting on the dramatic finale, the young forward struggled to hide his delight after the final whistle.

“Just one of those days, you need to manage to get the three points because that is what we needed. It is amazing that we got a last minute goal and yes it feeling amazing getting the three points. We keep going,” he said to the press.

The strike marked Fatawu’s fifth league goal of the season, adding to an impressive return of seven assists, numbers that highlight his consistency and influence as Leicester continue their fight to reclaim a place in the Premier League.

Head coach Marti Cifuentes was full of praise for the Ghana international, singling out both the quality of the goal and the mentality behind it.

“It always feels good when it’s a late goal that gives you three points, especially when it’s a fantastic goal,” he said.

“Credit to the players, who believed until the end and they were working hard until the last minute. I’m very happy for Abdul because, just before this action, he was cramping a little bit, he wanted to keep pushing in the last minutes and it shows that when you believe in something and there is this togetherness inside the team, then you get your rewards.”
