Union Saint-Gilloise have been handed a significant lift ahead of a defining stretch of fixtures, with dynamic forward Mohammed Fuseini cleared to return for Saturday’s clash against Cercle Brugge.

The 23-year-old has shaken off the injury he sustained in September, an untimely blow that sidelined him for roughly two months and forced him out of Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers in both September and October. His absence was felt deeply, even as the reigning Belgian champions managed to remain perched at the top of the league after 14 matches.

Fuseini had been in sparkling form earlier in the year, particularly during the Unity Cup Games in London in May, where he turned heads with his pace and movement. His momentum was halted by the injury setback, limiting him to just two appearances in the current campaign.

A product of the prestigious Right to Dream Academy, Fuseini etched his name into Union SG’s history books last season, playing a role in the club’s remarkable achievement of securing their first league title in nine decades.

His comeback arrives at a perfect moment. Not only is he available for the weekend’s league fixture, but his return strengthens the squad ahead of Tuesday’s demanding UEFA Champions League trip to Turkey, where Union SG will face Galatasaray.

With the squad stretched and fixtures piling up, Fuseini’s return does more than bolster the attack, it injects renewed energy and optimism into the champions’ camp.
