Football executive Samuel Anim Addo has strongly pushed back against circulating rumours suggesting that Ghanaian football icon Sulley Muntari was arrested in Dubai.
Taking to his verified X handle, Anim Addo clarified that the former Black Stars midfielder is “safe and currently residing in Dubai, where he is focused on his personal affairs and business activities.”
The Ghanaian football agent, well-known for his past role as Asamoah Gyan’s business manager, described the arrest reports as “entirely untrue.” He urged the public to disregard the misinformation and cautioned media outlets responsible for spreading it to promptly retract their publications and issue formal apologies.
“Failure to do so,” he cautioned, “would result in legal action by Muntari’s lawyers.”
The rebuttal followed a wave of unverified social media claims alleging that Muntari, a 2010 UEFA Champions League winner with Inter Milan, had been detained by authorities in Dubai.
Anim Addo’s immediate clarification has since gone viral, drawing reactions of relief from fans across social media platforms, many of whom expressed gratitude that the retired midfielder remains in good health and high spirits.
