CF Montréal’s in-form striker Prince Osei Owusu has finally crossed a long-anticipated milestone: his first official invitation to the Black Stars. The 28-year-old has been drafted into Otto Addo’s squad for Ghana’s November friendlies against Japan and South Korea, marking the beginning of what could be a new chapter in his international career.

Owusu has been quietly building his case in Major League Soccer, delivering the kind of consistent, physical, hard-running performances that inevitably draw attention. The Black Stars technical team had earmarked him months ago, and Addo in particular has been keeping a close eye on the German-born forward’s progress.

Owusu even made the standby list for last month’s World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros, hinting that this moment was always just around the corner.

A handful of regular squad members are missing for this international window, which cracked the door open for the Montréal striker. Addo has seized the moment, using these Asian tour matches as a testing ground to fine-tune his attack and weigh fresh options ahead of an intense year that includes preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Ghana announce November Asian tour with high-profile friendlies

Ghana’s first assignment is a clash with Japan on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Toyota Stadium in Aichi. Four days later, the Black Stars head to Seoul for a showdown with South Korea on Tuesday, November 18. Both fixtures are expected to stretch Ghana’s tactical maturity and provide Addo with a clearer picture of how new faces like Owusu can fit into his evolving blueprint.

For Owusu, the call-up is not just recognition but opportunity: a chance to impose his presence, inject new competition into the attacking line, and stake a claim as Ghana deepens its rebuild. His arrival adds a fresh layer of depth and underscores Addo’s continued push to blend emerging talent with seasoned experience as the Black Stars march toward a decisive competitive cycle.
