Viktoria Plzeň forward Prince Kwabena Adu has been rewarded with what many describe as a ‘deserved’ maiden Black Stars invitation, as Ghana firm up preparations for their high-profile friendlies against Japan and South Korea later this month.

The 23-year-old has been drafted into Otto Addo’s squad as a late inclusion, subject to final approval of his travel documentation, after a run of form that has made him one of the most reliable Ghanaian performers in Europe across the last two campaigns.

Adu has been in sparkling shape for Viktoria Plzeň this season, underlined by the decisive strike he netted over the weekend to steer the Czech giants to a 2–1 comeback victory away at Teplice—his fifth league goal of the ongoing campaign.

Ghana boss Otto Addo is keen to have a closer look at the dynamic attacker before finalising his long-list for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the national team stepping up evaluation and tactical preparations ahead of next year’s tournament.

The Black Stars face Japan on 14 November in the 2025 Kirin Challenge Cup before locking horns with South Korea four days later, giving Addo a valuable window to test emerging talent.

Adu has also transferred his domestic consistency onto the continental stage, contributing one goal in three UEFA Europa League outings so far. Last season, he produced five goals in 20 league appearances in the Czech First League, continuing the steady rise that began during his two-year stint with Bechem United before departing Ghana in 2023.

His call-up now offers him an opportunity to translate that momentum to the international arena—should his visa clearance be finalised in time for the Asian tour.
