Ghanaian prospect Caleb Yirenkyi delivered a standout performance on Thursday night, earning Man of the Match honors as FC Nordsjaelland played out a 1-1 draw with AGF Aarhus in the Danish SuperLiga.

Deployed in an unfamiliar centre-back position, the 20-year-old midfielder showed remarkable adaptability, seamlessly adjusting to his new role with composure and tactical intelligence.

Despite operating away from his natural midfield zone, Yirenkyi looked assured throughout, reading the game well and contributing significantly in both defensive and attacking phases.

The match initially tilted in favor of the visitors when Patrick Mortensen broke the deadlock in the 31st minute, finishing off a well-worked move orchestrated by Sebastian Jorgensen.

With AGF appearing in control for large stretches, Nordsjaelland were forced to dig deep as the game progressed.

As the clock wound down, the hosts increased the intensity, pushing forward in search of a leveller. Their persistence eventually paid off in the 83rd minute, with Yirenkyi at the heart of the breakthrough.

Demonstrating excellent vision and technique, he delivered a decisive assist that set up Levy Nene for the equalising goal.

Yirenkyi’s all-round display, marked by calmness on the ball, positional awareness, and defensive discipline, highlighted his growing influence within the squad. His versatility continues to stand out, offering valuable flexibility that could boost his chances of earning a role with Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Another Ghanaian, Prince Amoako, also featured prominently, completing the full 90 minutes as Nordsjaelland secured a hard-earned point on home soil.

Yirenkyi’s impressive campaign continues to gather momentum, with the youngster now tallying 30 appearances in all competitions this season, alongside two goals and six assists. numbers that underline his growing importance to the Danish side.
