Brandon Thomas-Asante delivered a game-changing cameo to propel Coventry City to a hard-fought 2-1 Championship victory over Millwall at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Ghanaian forward was introduced with just 20 minutes remaining and immediately injected pace, intent and clarity into Coventry’s attacking play. His influence proved decisive eight minutes later when he burst down the right flank and showed great composure to tee up Haji Wright, who made no mistake with a powerful finish to complete the comeback.

Coventry had earlier found themselves chasing the game after Millwall stunned the home crowd in the 11th minute. Romain Esse capitalised on a rare opening, striking clinically to put the visitors ahead despite sustained pressure from the hosts.

The Sky Blues eventually forced their way back into contention just before the half-hour mark. Persistent pressure paid off when Mihailo Ivanovic reacted quickest inside the box to turn in from close range, following sharp build-up play orchestrated by Femi Azeez.

With the scores level at the interval, Coventry emerged after the break with renewed urgency, pinning Millwall deep and probing for a winner. The turning point arrived with Thomas-Asante’s introduction, as his intelligent movement and direct running stretched the visitors’ back line and opened up spaces that had previously been difficult to exploit.

His perfectly weighted cut-back to Wright sealed the contest and capped a dominant second-half display from Frank Lampard’s men, who claimed all three points after relentless pressure.

The assist further underlines Thomas-Asante’s growing influence this season. He has now registered four assists in the 2025/26 Championship campaign to go with an impressive return of 10 goals from 19 appearances, continuing to play a key role in Coventry’s push up the table.
