Ghanaian midfielder Mawuli Mensah is attracting growing attention across Europe, with Portuguese giants Sporting CP and several German clubs emerging as potential destinations ahead of the upcoming campaign, according to Footy-Africa.

Sources close to the player have revealed that discussions over a transfer are progressing, with the 22-year-old expected to finalize his next move before the new season gets underway.

Mensah recently concluded his stint with Spanish outfit Real Zaragoza, where he spent the latter half of the 2025/26 season on loan from Real Betis. He joined Zaragoza during the January transfer window on a short-term agreement that included a clause allowing the club to secure his services permanently.

However, that option was contingent on Zaragoza maintaining their status in Spain’s second tier. With the necessary conditions unmet, the deal was never activated, paving the way for the midfielder to explore opportunities elsewhere.

After opting against extending his stay, Mensah has become one of the more sought-after young Ghanaian talents on the market. Sporting CP are understood to be seriously considering a move, while interest from Germany continues to intensify as multiple clubs assess the possibility of bringing him in.

The move to Zaragoza provided the midfielder with valuable playing time and exposure at senior level. He featured in 13 matches during his loan spell, a significant improvement after finding opportunities limited at Betis, where he alternated between the first team and the reserve side.

With negotiations advancing and interest mounting from different corners of Europe, Mensah now faces a crucial decision regarding the next stage of his career. An official announcement on his future is anticipated in the coming days as the midfielder evaluates the proposals currently on the table.
